Sam is a cheap date :)

I've found that most of the things that entertain Sam the most are very inexpensive.. or even free. (Disclaimer:  Sam does love his toys very much, but the following also entertain him just as much!)

I made playdough for Sam to play with a couple weeks ago.  He doesn't quite understand the concept, but likes squishing it and pretending to eat it.  The recipe is so easy:

  • 2 cups of plain flour
  • 2 cups of colored water (food coloring)
  • 1 tbsp. of cooking oil
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 cup of salt
  • You just put all the ingredients together and cook it in a saucepan and stir it until it thickens.

I got Sam some foam beads and pompoms from the Target dollar spot.  He likes putting them in and out of containers.  The ice cube tray is fun for this because he puts them in the individual spots.  Then he dumps it out and puts them all in again.

Sam's favorite place to go is the neighborhood playground.  It is nothing fancy, but Sam is able to climb the stairs and go down a small slide by himself.  He would stay for hours if we let him,

I can't wait until it warms up a little bit more so we can play outside in the water.  Last year Sam loved playing with his indoor makeshift water table: Click here to see cute pictures of 10 month old Sam!  This year we have an actual water table (Thanks mom!) and I know he will have fun playing with it.

I also get so many ideas for Sam from www.pinterest.com/emilyrush1.  Many of the ideas are free or very cheap.  I'm planning to try more ideas soon!

    1. I cannot wait until my son is old enough to climb the stairs by himself. I spend all my time running up and down the stairs with him. I'm not sure who is more exhausted by the end - me or him.
