Disney Vacation: Day 3 (Downtown Disney and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party)

You can see all our vacation days at the following links:

Disney: Day 1 (Downtown Disney)
Disney: Day 2 (Animal Kingdom)
Disney: Day 3 (Downown Disney and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party)
Disney: Day 4 (Universal's Islands of Adventure)
Disney: Day 5 (Magic Kingdom)

On Tuesday, Brad, Sam and I went to Downtown Disney during the day.  Sam played in the fountain, checked out the shops, and we had some lunch.

Sam liked Goofy's Candy Co.  :)

 Everything was decorated for Halloween/Fall...

Stich on top of the huge Disney store.  He spit water out of his mouth too!

The Lego store was cool.  Lots of different things built out of Legos and places to build things yourself.

Sam loved the fountain.  He got completely soaked. :)

We had lunch at Sandwich of Earl, which was pretty good.  The sandwiches were good, but nothing too special.   We headed back to the hotel after lunch for Sam's nap (and mine) and swimming.

That evening we bought tickets to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom.  This is a special event ticket, and cost around $50 a piece for Brad and me.  We thought it was worth the price since we were not going to another park that day.  The Halloween party is officially open from 7-midnight but they let you in as early as 4:00.  We got there at 5:00.

Sam rode on a bunch of rides that ride including Dumbo, the carousel, the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, It's a Small World, and the tea cups.

Sam didn't really care for It's a Small World (neither did I, it was a little creepy).  He really liked the Winnie the Pooh ride until we got to the heffalumps and weasels part.  He was scared for about 30 seconds with that.  The Winnie the Pooh ride also has interactive activities as you wait in line, which makes it go a little faster.

Dumbo was a big hit with Sam.  He liked going up high!

We attempted to watch Mickey's Philharmagic show, but Sam had other plans.  It was getting late, the show was very loud, Sam was scared of it - so we snuck out early.

The carousel was fun!

Brad also went on the Haunted Mansion and we went on Space Mountain a couple times.

The "Boo to You" Parade was very good.  I found a youtube video of it, if anyone is interested.  I didn't take the video, but it was the same parade that we saw.   Boo to You Parade  Sam really enjoyed the parade and seeing all the characters.

The whole park was decorated for Halloween and many people were in costume.  We borrowed a tigger costume for Sam to wear, but it was way too hot in Florida to have him wear it.  It was in the 90's every day, cooling off slightly at night but not too much.

They also had a special "Hallowishes" fireworks display which we were excited about.  We've never been so close to fireworks being shot off, and Sam freaked out!  It did sound like we were under attack and Sam was very scared.  We took him further away and inside a ride until the fireworks were over.   His new phrase to say is "Fireworks, boom!"

We rode a few more rides and saw the sights but left the park around 10:00, we didn't want to keep Sam out too late.  Overall, the Halloween party was very fun - even for a toddler.  Many of the rides had very short waits.  There were places to trick or treat in the park, those lines were huge.  We skipped the trick or treating part.   Sam fell asleep on the bus ride home. :)
